Biography
Blake J. Williams is an artist and Associate Professor in the Department of Art, Art History, and Design at Michigan State University. She discovered her love for clay in high school and a passion for teaching at Pottery Northwest. Williams earned her BFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and her MFA from Louisiana State University. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and in 2008 she became a member of ArtAxis.org. Williams’s work appears in private and public collections including Michigan State University’s Spartan Stadium and the Jingdezhen Ceramics Museum. Her work has been in publications such as American Craft, Ceramics Monthly, and Hyperallergic. Williams has participated in artist residencies at the Red Lodge Clay Center and the Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts. Her current work uses porcelain bones to investigate the tangible and intangible aspects of mortality.
