Christy Stehouwer

Biography

My name is Miss Christy Stehouwer (like a dog – Stay Hower). I earned my Bachelors of Science in Secondary Math Education from MSU and then taught high school math for 7 years. I earned my Masters in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove College. Having my Masters allowed me to become an Academic Advisor.

I have been working on campus for almost 13 years. I began in the Neighborhoods as an Exploratory Preference Advisor. I have worked in the Colleges of Human Medicine and Nursing as an Advisor. I am now in the College of Arts and Letters as an Advisor for Experience Architecture and the Art, Art History, and Graphic Design majors.

Outside of work I enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles and playing with our two English Cream Golden Retrievers – Tiki and Rummy. I grew up just outside of Lansing in DeWitt, we raised our girls there, and we just recently moved about 20 min east to Bath on 17 acres. We have a fish stocked pond, bees, trails, and lots of projects. My husband, who works for MSU IT, and I, will have been married for 30 years next year. Both our daughters have attended MSU as well. Needless to say – we bleed green!
