Kathryn Houghton

Biography

Kathryn primarily teaches in the Professional and Public Writing program, but she has also taught classes for First-year Writing, English, Experience Architecture, and IAH. Her professional interests include editing, publication management, technical and science writing, travel writing, ethics, and fiction. She has published two books on Michigan (Little Michigan, 2018, and Michigan Day Trips, 2021) and has a third expected in May of 2026. Her writing has also appeared in The Collagist and PANK.

Kathryn holds an MFA in creative writing from Eastern Washington University and has completed additional training in online learning and indexing. She was also a 2016–2017 Adams Academy Fellow.

She is senior editor of The Current, a student-run magazine that won a Marcom Gold award in 2024.
