Marcus Fields

Biography

Marcus supports the learning that takes place in several technology-rich creative-learning spaces housed within the School of Residential Community-Engaged Arts and Humanities (RCAH). These spaces include the Language and Media Center (LMC), the Art Studio, the RCAH Theater, and the LookOut Gallery. He helps faculty, staff, students, and community partners incorporate art and media technologies into classes, co-curricular activities, and creative initiatives. He mentors the student peer-consultants who staff the LMC, Art Studio, and Theater. He uses the skills he gained through MSU’s Master of Arts in Educational Technology (MAET) program to devise learning experiences for the RCAH community.

In August 2022, he helped establish RCAH’s ROOT Scholars, a college transition program aimed at helping incoming students build academic and social support structures before classes begin (a program he continues to lead). Since 2023, he has facilitated a printmaking class for local youth through MSU GATE’s GUPPY Camp. In May 2023, he began serving as the digital accessibility liaison for RCAH. In September 2025, he began serving as a Board Member and Graphic Designer for Bogue Street Records, RCAH’s interdisciplinary record label and platform for music artists. Since September 2025, he has served as the adviser to the Spartan Printing Association, MSU’s registered student organization for the teaching and practicing of traditional letterpress printing (an art-making practice he himself participates in and teaches alongside the students in the club).

Marcus is also a proud RCAH alum: graduating with the class of 2017 with a degree in Arts and Humanities and a minor in Arts and Cultural Management. He experiments with a range of visual expressions, including video production, photography, and printmaking. He also works on theater productions in Lansing’s robust community theater scene.
