Ellen McCallum

Biography
E. L. McCallum is professor of English & Film Studies at Michigan State and Faculty Fellow at the Center for Gender in a Global Context. She wrote Object Lessons: How to Do Things with Fetishism and Unmaking The Making of Americans: Toward an Aesthetic Ontology. The latter monograph examines a range of questions about aesthetics, temporality, emotion, and narrative through Gertrude Stein’s major modernist novel. In addition, she has coedited three books and, most recently, the inaugural issue of the environmental humanities journal Regeneration: Environment, Art, Culture  on “Nature Bites Back: The Anti-Pastoral Thesis in Queer & Trans Studies.” She has published articles on art cinema, feminist melodrama, experimental narrative, queer theory, narrative theory, and close reading.
