Biography
Pedro Noel Doreste is Assistant Professor in Film Studies at Michigan State University. He received his PhD in Cinema and Media Studies from the University of Chicago. He is a historian of Latin American, Caribbean and Latinx film and media whose research surveys cinematic encounters between the Global North and South, diasporic and exile filmmaking and experimental film cultures in the Hispanic Caribbean. His work has appeared in Reception, Studies in Spanish and Latin American Cinema, Alphaville, and in the edited collection Latinx Media. He is co-editor of the upcoming edited collection from Centro Press, “Vivirse la película: Methods in Puerto Rican Film Studies.”
