Caitlin Cornell

Biography

Caitlin Cornell (Ph.D., Michigan State University) researches and supports accessible and inclusive teaching and learning broadly and has a specific interest in disability-inclusive pedagogy for additional (second/foreign/world) language learning.

As the Accessibility Coordinator and Advocate for the College of Arts and Letters, Dr. Cornell leads accessibility and disability inclusion strategy in the college, supports faculty in accessible pedagogy, and advocates for disabled students, faculty, and staff.

Among her wide-ranging support of multiple initiatives at the Center for Language Teaching Advancement (CeLTA; “SELL-tah”), are outreach efforts on behalf of the National Less-Commonly-Taught Languages Resource Center (NLRC), mentoring graduate assistants from MSU programs who work in CeLTA, and collaborating with language learning and teaching organizations nationwide. Dr. Cornell has taught undergraduate language teaching methodology courses. She teaches and develops courses on disability topics, like a short undergraduate course on Race, Language, and Disability and a graduate course on Individual Differences and Accessibility for Foreign Language Teaching.
