Barb Whitney

Biography

Barb Whitney is Interim Director of Arts, Cultural Management, and Museum Studies (ACMMS) at Michigan State University, where she teaches courses in arts and cultural management, leadership, marketing, and museum studies. An arts administrator, educator, and practicing artist, Whitney brings more than two decades of experience in nonprofit arts leadership, higher education, community engagement, and arts advocacy. Her work has included leadership roles with MI Creative Potential, the Lansing Art Gallery & Education Center, and regional and statewide arts initiatives. She holds an M.A. in Arts Administration from the University of Michigan-Flint and a B.A. in Art and Art History from Kalamazoo College.
