Biography
PhD, Linguistics, Stanford University. Scott Borgeson’s research focuses on the prosodic hierarchy, Mora Theory, phonological opacity, and the phonology-morphology interface. His dissertation work argued for the existence of long-distance compensatory lengthening in Estonian and Slovak. Much of his current work involves Estonian morphophonology, and in particular so-called overlong syllables in Estonian, which alternate with long syllables in systematic and productive ways.
