Biography
Beth Bonsall is part of the Marketing and Communications Office leading public relations and digital content strategy on behalf of the College of Arts & Letters. Bonsall leads efforts, in collaboration with MSU’s University Communications and Marketing, related to PR and media opportunities for our faculty, as well as media training, interview and message development, and media consulting.
She also oversees digital content strategy for the college, including a faculty research and arts impact newsletter and the college’s social media accounts, as well as collaborates on story development, writing, digital communications, and marketing initiatives with Marketing and Communications team members.
For more than 20 years, Bonsall has served in marketing and communications, content strategy, public relations, and editorial roles.
While at Michigan State University, she spent more than four years working in student recruitment and student success communications within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) helping share student stories and learning experiences. While in CANR, she worked closely with the college recruiter and designer to develop and launch a new student marketing campaign, as well as developed and maintained student-focused web pages and assets using consistently branded voice and tone.
Before that, Bonsall spent close to 10 years working in academic technology communications with the MSU Information Technology unit. Work included leading a student-focused secure technology awareness campaign, launching and maintaining a redesigned website and social media channel, and developing an editorial and brand style guide for organizational communications.
Prior to moving into higher education, Bonsall worked for more than six years in editorial and supervisory capacities for the nonprofit Photo Marketing Association International supporting professionals in the photo industry. In this role, she lead content planning, editorial assignments, and development of a print magazine and several online newsletters while managing a team of internal staff members and freelancers.
She holds a B.A. in journalism from Michigan State University with focus areas in photojournalism and linguistics.
