Biography
CaraMia Rose Bertoni is an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design, Multimedia Artist, Printmaker, and Graphic Designer. After obtaining her BFA in Graphic Design in 2016, and MFA in Graphic Design from Eastern Michigan University in 2019 she now resides in Brighton, MI. She had done corporate design work for Eastern Michigan University. Ranging from the EMU Athletics Department to EMU Campus Life. Since 2020, she has taught Graphic Design Courses at multiple universities and colleges. She started teaching at Michigan State University as an Assistant Professor-Fixed Term in the Fall 2023 semester. With teaching she instructs her students to think conceptually, push the constructs and boundaries of design, teaches up to date techniques/branding guidelines and design aesthetics, and to investigate one’s own design process. For CaraMia, the will for more knowledge, techniques, and pushing the boundaries of design is what drives her and her work. Her work focuses on personal experiences and bringing awareness to her own mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. She works across media, focusing on digital collage, printing, letterpress, painting, drawing, and watercolor. Creating psychological spaces for the viewer to engage with and transcend to.
