CaraMia Rose Bertoni

CaraMia Rose Bertoni is an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design, Multimedia Artist, Printmaker, and Graphic Designer. After earning her BFA in Graphic Design from Eastern Michigan University in 2016 and her MFA in Graphic Design from Eastern Michigan University in 2019, she now resides in Brighton, Michigan. She has worked professionally in corporate design for Eastern Michigan University, including projects for the EMU Athletics Department and EMU Campus Life. Bertoni has also remained actively engaged with the professional design community through the American Advertising Federation (AAF), serving as a judge for the 2026 ADDY Awards and participating in student portfolio reviews with AAF East Lansing in 2026. Since 2020, Bertoni has taught graphic design courses at multiple colleges and universities. She began teaching at Michigan State University as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2023. As an educator, she encourages students to think conceptually, challenge the constructs and boundaries of design, explore contemporary design techniques and aesthetics, and investigate their own individual design processes. Her teaching emphasizes experimentation, critical thinking, and developing a personal voice within the field of graphic design. For Bertoni, the pursuit of knowledge, new techniques, and opportunities to push the boundaries of design drives both her teaching and creative practice. Her artwork draws from personal experiences and explores themes surrounding depression, anxiety, grief, and the complexities of mental and emotional states. Working across digital collage, printmaking, letterpress, painting, drawing, and watercolor, she creates psychological spaces that invite viewers to engage and transcend to.
