Katherine Bernest Hilker

Biography

Katherine Bernest Hilker holds an M.A. in Hispanic Literature from Michigan State University and a B.A. in Spanish and Italian, summa cum laude, from Saint Mary’s College. She previously taught Spanish language and grammar at MSU and later served as an adjunct professor and academic advisor at the American University in Dubai. Her professional experience also includes several years in international higher education, including work on the development of higher education initiatives while living and working in Equatorial Guinea and the Republic of Congo. Her academic interests include Hispanic language and culture, second language acquisition, and the linguistic and cultural connections between Spanish and Italian. She is delighted to return to MSU and the Department of Romance and Classical Studies.
