Kimberly Benedicto

Biography

Kim Benedicto is a Special Programs Coordinator and Writing Coordinator at Michigan State University’s English Language Center. She grew up in the Philippines, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Literature from the University of the Philippines, and moved to the United States in 2005 to pursue graduate study in TESOL at The Ohio State University. After completing her MA in Foreign and Second Language Education with a focus on ESL, she taught at the University of Maryland before joining MSU in 2008.

At MSU, Kim teaches Advanced Academic English (AAE), Language Learning & Teaching (LLT) and Integrative Arts & Humanities (IAH) courses. In her role as Special Programs Coordinator, she develops and supports customized English language and cultural programs for international students, scholars, teachers, and professional groups. Since 2024, she has also served as Writing Coordinator, overseeing the ELC writing curriculum and supporting instructors and teaching assistants across writing courses.

Her professional interests include academic writing instruction, second language acquisition, intercultural learning, and educational technology.
