Biography
Andrea Allen (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist-educator and scholar specializing in social justice art teaching, identity development, and decolonial methodologies for visual arts education and research. Her scholarly work, rooted in Critical Race Theory and Chicana Feminism, has been presented at regional and national conferences and published in art education journals. Andrea’s teaching experience spans community arts centers, museums, and K-16 classrooms across Texas, New York, Japan, and New Zealand. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Art Education in the Department of Art, Art History, and Design at Michigan State University.Andrea earned her PhD in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Art Education from the University of Houston, where she also completed an MEd and a BA in Broadcast Journalism.
