Amanda Lanier

Biography
Dr. Amanda Lanier is an applied linguist who focuses on language acquisition and interculturality as well as communities of practice in online learning. She is core faculty in the Master of Arts in Foreign Language Teaching (maflt.cal.msu.edu) and in Second Language Studies (sls.msu.edu), both in the College of Arts and Letters. Since she came to MSU in 2013, she has designed and delivered over 70 sections of online graduate courses to teachers of 20 languages, located around the world, and she served as Program Director of the MAFLT from 2018-2025. She is also trained in theatre, music, and dance and enjoys exploring new waterways with her family.
